I remember seeing PEAC in Practical Electronics as a 12 year old schoolboy. Thought it was really clever but not something I was ever going to build.
AFAIK, analogue computers are no longer being built but the great thing about them was the very "hands on" interaction with the computation. If you were approaching "divide by zero" or some other awkward point you knew about it immediately without delving through lots of code.
