After my ZX81 died (red lettering), I converted it to a dummy laptop for my daughter's school play. I made a lid from black mounting board and hinged it to the case with gaffer tape. I made the screen by printing a photo-quality screen dump of a windows desktop, covered it with transparent sticky plastic to make it glossy, and stuck it on the inside of the lid. Laptops were not common at the time, and it looked quite convincing from a distance!
