Hi,

I hope you got this sorted.

Your Youtube video shows a bright spot when scope is in X-Y mode. Try moving the spot using the two position knobs (left-right and up-down arrows). In other modes the timebase drives the X (horizontal) movement of the spot, as per the 'Trio CS-1830 Oscilloscope' thread you need to set the Norm/Auto switch to Auto to get a trace with no input applied.
