The best spray paints for guitars are Nitrocellulose lacquers and the good news is that they are easy to get, in spray cans, in multiple colors from Luthier suppliers, just one example:

Indeed. My experience with cars sprayers was years ago. I have been using nitrocellulose on guitars for years now. AND.. in time it cracks and crazes like it does on vintage guitars that used the same stuff. And for those not familiar with the world of vintage guitars, that's a
positive attribute, not a negative one!
