I would not spend too much time on a cordless tool.
Has the battery been checked to make sure it is not short circuit?
Last time I had a battery go feeble a replacement was twice the price of a complete brand new tool from Aldi. I chucked another one into the basket for a second battery.
The cells alone cost more than a new tool.
