Hi John and Matt,
that's a great result in the end.
I had a very good look and am 99.9% certain that I must have disposed of my spare Brummy GEC RF unit a few years ago.

I wouldn't mind having a go at back converting the RF unit you have there though. I like a challenge. Those proximity coupled inductors are a nice touch, a bit like the PYE LV30 which in my mind is the ultimate TRF design...
