Interestingly I watched a YouTube clip on the Mayfair FT-303 which looks identical to the 305 (obviously must be something different).

The clip indicates that the 2 speeds of the 303 are 3 ¾ and 7 ½ i.p.s. which is surprising, hopefully I can get my 305 working and verify its speeds.
