Looking at the photos I would agree with Refugee, unglazed fireclay, where I first worked years ago we used many refractory items of various shapes, sizes and materials none of which contained asbestos, however I can't guarantee it 100% and understand if you are still concerned, if you knew a potter they could probably shape and fire one for you quite easily.
