At the end of the video it is clearly visible why my YTO failed.

In my case the coupling loop is NOT made of a band, but of two turns of a very thin wire.
In these days a gold covered tungsten wire was used. The bonding joints sometimes corrode and tend to brake off under mechanical stress.
