Default Re: Courier discussions

Related to this, I received a message from a forum member the other day regarding sending electronic components and batteries by post and couriers. They appear to be being more vigilant about these now due to the risk of fire or other risks if batteries are damaged. Because capacitors can hold a charge they are being regarded (incorrectly) the same way as batteries.

The only exception seems to be new batteries and capacitors in their retail packaging.

The issue in the case I was emailed about concerned some antique capacitors (presumably a type that are of significant value) which were obviously not in original retail packaging, and were disposed of by the carrier as "dangerous goods".

We don't have an answer to this, other than reading the terms and conditions carefully, wrapping the items well, and maybe if asked what the parcel contains answering in a way that is honest and accurate but not too specific...
