It's very likely the tube will be OK. I'm glad in a way the innards didn't end up in the skip, but it is a shame it was broken up, probably to put an LCD set in the cabinet.
Of course it's a black and white set, but being B&O is far better than its contemporaries.
Do hang onto it. If you do intend to get rid of it I'm not far away, but unfortunately it's not something I particularly need. Mind you, that's true of most of my stuff!
