Default Re: Pye Black Box

So, made a start and this is where Im up to.
I dismantled and cleaned the turntable deck. This was the fun and easy part. All lubricated with grease and the speed selector as well. Both were really gummed up with grease and yukkily sticky. Nicotine?
When this was reassembled I took the amp out. I measured both electrolytic caps and both measured at 50uf. Measured the hunts half were way off and half were o/c. I replaced them all aside from one electrolytic which was meant to be 12uf…

I tried the amp and sure enough a buzz was coming from the pickup inputs.
I connected the cartridge, it was dead.. so I decided to open it up and my my was it filthy! It must’ve got wet at the time. I cleaned it up and re-straightened the foil. It worked but seemed quiet. A break in the pickup wiring was found and temporarily repaired.
The player plays well, aside from running a bit slow at 32.70rpm. (Is that any good??)
The pickup cartridge bracket is missing one screw.. does anyone have a spare??
