Yes, that is the Irish version of the BB and made in 1955. You'll definately need a stereo-compatible or a full stereo cartridge. If you buy the latter, you will will need to bridge the LH and RH channels. You may jest about making it stereo, but the whole object of the design of these units with speakers sited at both sides, is that it will give a wide "stereo-like" sound stage when placed across the corner of a room. It looks as if the original Acos mono-only cartridge has been removed - if you post a close up of the cartridge (assuming there is one fitted) we can advise you of its suitability for stereo use.
