It's a national problem, and there's no sign of the Grid correcting it.
According to press articles, Continental Europe has an even more serious error of 6 minutes and some newspapers are blaming that for the UK error. That doesn't make sense because the UK Grid is separate. Cross-channel links are HVDC.
