This is an interesting thread. The Sam's CB series seems to have run to a minimum of just under 300 volumes. See:

The 1948 book Sams "Post War Communications Receivers including Aviation and Marine", also included "CR1" on the front cove. There was a second volume, ie Sams "Communication Receiver Manual, including special purpose receivers CR2", copyright 1952
