As a project it has been going on for about ten years, so I've probably got the bugs sorted out!

I like PICs because they're very deterministic. I have done some things with PICs that one oughtn't be able to do (like video generation).

I confess I used the Microchip 'SIM' debugging tool, which includes a stopwatch to time sections of code. Even so, there are places where every single cycle is used!
