Default Re: Server downtime announcements

Notification just received for maintenance on 9th July.

Quote:
Hello,

Server Hostname: bevan.ukdedicated.com

This is a notice for SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE on the UKDedicated Hosting Platform.

In order to ensure PCI compliance and the security of your data we will be changing the SSL/TLS settings on your server.

We will be updating the SSL/TLS protocol version on your UKDedicated server to allow only TLSv1.2 connections, this will remove support for TLSv1.0 and TLSv1.1.

This change applies to inbound connections only, e.g. applications connecting to your UKDedicated server to access webpages, collect email, and FTP.

Any connections made by scripts on the server to external hosts will not be affected by this change and will continue to connect at the highest level of security allowable by the remote host.

Out of date operating systems/email clients will likely have problems after this change.

Windows 8.1/10 users should have no issues, Windows 7 users will need to ensure this patch is installed and properly configured https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...e-protocols-in

MacOS users on Mavericks or higher should have no issues if the email software in use is using the native SSL library.

MAINTENANCE WINDOW

START
2019-07-09 22:00 BST (21:00 GMT/UTC)

END
2019-07-09 23:00 BST (22:00 GMT/UTC)

EXPECTED IMPACT
As part of this change some services will be restarted but any outage will be minimal while this occurs, the server will not be restarted.

There is a high chance that end users running older operating systems and/or software will have issues connecting after this update.

Our apologies to customers affected by these planned works, please be assured they are essential. All efforts will be made to minimise service impact.

Kind Regards,
UKDedicated
Those using Windows 7 should note the required update. Those on older operating systems may have issues, however I don't know if the use of a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome will resolve it.
