Not quite "tomorrow" but update as offered:
Relined shoes fitted to clutch motor side unit. This was then taken out to the motor and checked to see that the shoes were "leading" when the motor was running forwards. They weren't so the shoes were refitted the other way round from in the pic! Reassembled clutch and refitted to motor spindle, then whole assembly bolted back onto extractor unit and the drive belt refitted and everything turned back up the right way.
Switch on, select forwards and
. The whole honeycomb frame support span steadily up to speed in 30 seconds or so. Shut down, stop with brake and try reverse- not surprisingly with the clutch shoes now trailing it took much longer to get up to speed. Not sure why a reverse is needed at all, but at least it works.
