I tried adding 120 ohms, but this only reduced the heater voltage by 4v. It was noticed that the set was also drawing more current, so I have left it as is.

I did replace the NTC with a 100 ohm resistor, which seems fine. The set is now happily playing

The cabinet has come up a treat, notice the half polished top, just the result of T-cut and elbow grease. The set was finished off with neutral wax and buffed up to a nice shine.

This little set is a good performer, even running on a couple of metres of wire and with more than enough volume for that little speaker. It's quite modern looking for it's age.

Time to start another one....
