Many thanks for your swift response gentlemen. I do have a circuit diagram from a photocopy of the original manual. Unfortunately it is not very clear as the print is mostly blurred. Also most of the illustrations in the manual are just black.

Ed, when you say check the supply rail could you be a bit more specific as I'm not sure where to start. As I mentioned before I am a beginner with limited theory knowledge. I do have several multimeters both digital and analogue.

This is so far the most complex device I have had to deal with so please bear with me and I will try not to be too much of a burden to you.
