One place I worked had 240V outlets using normal 13A mains sockets and
120V outlets using something we called "Walsall" gauge sockets. These looked like ordinary 13A sockets except that the pins were at 90degrees to the normal ones and they were consequently not intermateable.

Maybe you could use American style outlets for your 120V- seems logical really given the ready availability of same and the likely origin of equipment using 120V!
