Hello Lennart - can't help you directly - I realise you are in Germany, but given the U.S. origins of the SORD I would think someone in this USA-centric vintage computer forum would be able to help you:-

Apologies if you have already been there and drawn a blank.

Actually, a search over there on 'Sord M68' brings up a ten year old post from Arjoll who is still a forum member here as well... so maybe we might be able to help after all?

You could try over at the Retrogamer forum.
It caters for all old computer users and I am positive ive seen members who own them there and post info.

I have SORD FDOS and CP/M-68k for the M68, but not sure when I'll be able to fire up my working M68 to get them copied. I've never seen the P-System for the M68, although it was advertised as available.

If you haven't already, check https://www.sord.co.nz - the site is incomplete and wildly out of date, but there's info about my SORDs there!

They weren't US, they were Japanese, founded by Takayohi Shiina in 1970. They were quite successful until the mid-1980s when he got on the wrong side of some of the Japanese establishment (entrepreneurs were not highly regarded), eventually being bought out by Toshiba.

CP/M and its relatives were interesting - and problematic if only because of the way the base operating-system was written so as to make it really-easy to configure a vast slew of different peripherals such as floppy- and early hard-disks.

Different numbers of tracks/sectors, soft- or hard-formatted, single- or double-sided - back then there were loads of smallish disk-drive manufacturers all with their own preferred formats - and a similarly-small manufacturer of computers could get someone to write-up a P/M filestructure to handle them. Making life really difficult for those who - 40 years on - have to try and prepare a boot-disk!

I stand corrected, for some reason I've always had it in my head that SORD were a U.S. Marque.
