Useful tuning scale and label scans etc
2 Attachment(s)
A Mullard MAS97 radio I have here temporarily came with a complete sheet of station ident labels for the preset station buttons.
I thought these could be useful for other members who own this set or similar sets, so have scanned them and attached them here. The ZIP file contains the full size scan at 300DPI, the image is smaller due to forum size restraints. Each ident is approx 16mm by 8mm. Rather than just posting as a thread which can get lost, I thought a sticky thread where people can post other scans of tuning scales, labels, logos and other idents would be a useful resource. Please add whatever you have that could be useful for other restorers. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS THREAD TO REQUEST SCANS, JUST TO POST ONES YOU HAVE TO SHARE. THANKS. |

The backing has peeled off this HMV dial. About 1942. From a cabinet, alas, no innards.

Artwork for Marconi CR300 logging scale dials, I posted some in the refinishing section the other day but in these ones I have updated the font specifications so as to be a closer match to the original dials, parameters for recreating the images in your own drawing program are given in each picture.

This may seem an odd one but the "licence plate" was missing from the inside of the cabinet of my Bush DAC10 so I made this one for completeness.
It's beyond me - and my drawing software - to recreate the logo so I took a scan of the one in my DAC90A. The scanned licence plate has suffered a bit from heat so the bottom of the outer rings is slightly deformed. It does look better when it's printed out. I covered it with clear adhesive film then mounted it onto a piece of plastic to make it look reasonably authentic. The actual size is 6.2cms x 1.8cms If anyone is interested I can add the serial number of their radio to the plate. Regards, Lee. |

Re: Useful tuning scale and label scans etc
Here are two scans, a cleaned and prepped VHF90 and a scan of the control panel on a Roberts R300.
The Roberts panel probably will fit other models. They tend to get discoloured, this scan can be printed on sticky film to recover the original. It was very difficult to scan due to the upturned edges spacing the panel away from the scanner glass. Sam. |

Who ate all the Pyes? ;D
This is my attempt at reproducing the badge from inside the lid of a Black Box. I did a 'step & repeat' copy of the original image so that I'd end up with plenty with which to experiment :) These turned out quite well on my inkjet - how to translate paper copy into some form of glossy finish that would look OK on the inside of the BB's lid - photo paper? laminating sheet? Hope it's of use :) Best wishes Guy |

Here's a dial plate for a C1955 Telefunken Mazurka. I foolishly washed the original and half the letters slipped or fell off (my first time restoring!). Luckily I'd taken decent enough photos to remake a template and got it screen printed locally. Here are the PDF's (reversed for printing onto glass), and for reference the font I used was DIN 1451 Std Engschrift.

Re: Useful tuning scale and label scans etc
Re Marconi CR300 dial. Thanks for dial printout Lawrence.
This may be of help to someone not having a colour printer, only black. I printed the dial on Southworth parchment paper gold which I found to be the same colour as my dial. Went over the intermediate lines with a black pen then three fine coats of varnish. Job done, impossible to tell the difference. Now going to have a lay down just recorded both drives???? Thanks again, Derek. |
Re: Useful tuning scale and label scans etc
I uploaded that yonks ago, never thought it would get used after all this time, glad you found it useful.

I've had a go at touching it up and it has come out well, I think (but, of course, I'm prejudiced!)
I've assumed that the original was black to the edges and that the paint has come off where it was fixed and will be invisible anyway. Personally, I think it would look better with the text at the bottom and the Volume and Tuning legends removed but other might disagree. The problem is not only identifying the exact font used (and hoping it is widely available) but also that the scan is twisted. I've improved on the original but can only adjust it in 1 degree intervals so you will notice it now tilts the other way (but not so much!) Unless someone can suggest a way of producing text with a matching tilt, I think it would look terrible, although it might be possible to carefully adjust the position of each character to match the tilt! I've previewed this picture and it looks OK but I do have the original which is a much bigger file that I could insert in a pdf if anybody is interested. |
