Thanks to Pamphonica for kindly transporting a radio and pre-amp from Harpenden to Oxford for me;

To Paul Stenning for the nice little RIAA pre-amp at a good price;

And to Crackle for remembering that I adored his Defiant radio, selling it to me for a very reasonable sum, and taking it to Harpenden.

I really do appreciate forum members' kindness.

Regards,

Nick.

Thank you to whoever put the assorted hi-fi equipment in the Harpenden bring and buy last weekend with proceeds to the museum. I bought two tuners and one of them, the Sony, is excellent. It must have been expensive back in its day, and I'm really pleased with it. The other one, the Kenwood, is very good too but I don't want two so it'll go in the WB B&B with proceeds again to the museum.

Thanks to two Forum members -"cmjones01" - for the Barco CRT monitor, and especially to "dodgy-dxer" for collecting it for me from cmjones01, holding on to it for a bit, and meeting me away from his own home due to local roadworks to deliver it to me!

There are some "nice guys" left!

I have received a parcel with plenty of components: resistors, caps, transistors, diodes, LEDs, etc. This parcel was stopped in Spain for more than a year due to unlucky circumstances but it is finally in my hands. I want to thank all the folks who helped to collect all this components to be sent to me. I won't mention names to avoid the risk to forget any.

To all of you: Thank you very much :thumbsup:

Email received:

Dear Paul

I came to your site because I was looking for a solution for my VCR. The
mains supply VEK 5325 (video recorder Blaupunkt RTV 915 / Panasonic).
The good tip with the:
"You need to change the start-up cap, C9, which IS 1uF 400V you will see it
adjacent to R3" was absolutely true.

Here I would say everyone in the Forum a thank you for this help. The
recorder is working again.

With regards
frederikus

What a great example they both are to this invaluable site, and even more astounding, neither one of them, would except payment of any kind.

Re: The Thanks thread.

I joined this forum in September and it's the only one I'm on. I don't post every day but I always check it every few hours just in case I miss something! I'm not always right but does anyone say "Shut up you idiot, you don't know what you're talking about"? Not a bit of it, instead some kind soul patiently explains to me the error of my ways while being careful not to make me look stupid. I've found this attitude very humbling indeed and that's never a bad thing!
So I'd like to thank all the members who have made me feel very welcome here. It's astonishing to find such courtesy in today's world and especially online. The members of this forum are the best on the net and I think you're all fantastic.
Also, I'd like to thank the team who make it all work. It can be a thankless task and I don't envy them! You're all wonderful and having read through some of the old threads I can honestly say you've got this forum through some less than pleasant episodes!
Last but not least I'd like to thank Mr. Paul Stenning without whose vision, patience and persistence, none of this would have been possible. Sir, you are a prince among men!
I've been in this hobby, specialising in record players since 1979 when I was 10 years old. The last 34 years have been very lonely as far as my hobby is concerned. Not any more!
My heartfelt thanks go out to all concerned.
Oh, and merry Christmas everyone, and be lucky in 2014.
With deepest gratitude,
Paul
