Golborne/Manchester swapmeet 7th April

Sunday 7th April is the BVWS swapmeet at Golborne, just west of Manchester.

http://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.php

Doors open at 10 (stall holders 9.30). The usual variety of stalls selling vintage Radio, Television, Audio, Communications receivers, Test gear, Valves, Components, Spares, etc. Ample free parking, hot and cold refreshments available. The BVWS stall will be there selling the usual range of capacitors, Deoxit, etc.

If you have one or two items you'd like to sell, the 'Bring and Buy' stall is where you can sell them at 10% commission to the BVW&TV Museum.

The stores are bursting at the seams again, so they'll be a huge variety of bargains overflowing from the BVWS table, everything must go!

If you're not a BVWS member, why not come along for a sample visit? You'll be made most welcome and you can even take the plunge and join on the day if you like what you see! Credit/debit card payments taken at the BVWS stall.

See you there....

I can confirm that I will be giving the second part of the talk “An Introduction to Semiconductors”. This will be on Transistors and Integrated Circuits. As I said last year it takes a lot of time to produce these talks, researching the topic, writing the handout, devising, designing and building the demo units so this talk will be the last for the time being.

We have recently become grandparents so our time will be taken up helping our daughter with child care once she returns to work amongst other commitments. I am not ruling out further talks and have an idea for one but it will depend finding the time to prepare the talk.

The talk will start at 11:30 in the side room at Golborne and all are welcome.

Keith

I'll see if I can make it, I enjoyed last time, especially the 405 line sets on demonstration.

The highlight was seeing an 819 line set in operation.

Promises to be a great day out though!

I have removed that link. Their own website at http://golborneparkside.com/ is closed to updates too, so I don't have anything to replace the link with currently.

Sadly, I won't be making this one - friend's birthday on canal boat!

I'll be there, wearing my name badge, looking for bargains.

Before then I'll be rereading Keith's notes from the first part of the semiconductors talk.

Hope to be chatting with a few regulars and anyone new.

See you Sunday.

See you all there on Sunday, badged.
Anybody need a lift from Middlewich/Winsford/Warrington area?

Might bring along a few radios for the Bring and Buy.
I have some new 807 & 1625 valves if anyone is interested I will bring those too.
If anyone needs some old odd valves PM me I have thousands that I will never use.

I see no reason not to bring it - though it may not physically fit on the stall!

It will collapse down Dave. Thanks, I may have another one also thats a bit tatty but very resurrectable which again would be for a suitable donation to the museum.
Thanks, A.

I can bring all sorts for the Bring and Buy: one is a two-man lift but others are small components which I want to sell individually or in small packets eg of 10. Does each small item need to be priced and labelled or can we have a box for all of one type showing price and seller?

Due to personal matters I could not make it today. The TV display I expect will be as good as ever :).

Once again another good day, lots of tables selling stuff, some lovely TV's showing vintage programs.
I took a car full of what I thought were nice sets for the bring and buy but sold nothing.
Oh dear I will have to find another way to reduce the collection, it's way too big and I can't buy anything new to play with, no room to work now.
Thanks to all that put in so much hard work and driving to make it a worthwhile day. No names, we know who they are.
Thanks too to Keith for his lecture, interesting as usual.

Same here Sam. It was my first swapmeet since I went to a Radiophile meeting at Eccleshall about 20 years ago! Nice to speak to Greg at the BVWS stall.
Thanks to Dave on the bring and buy stall I sold a boatanchor item and a few M2.5 screws. I tried not to buy anything, but couldn't resist a Marconi Marine manual for the Atalanta, in case I am ever forced to buy that boatanchor ;)

If the Bring & Buy's success can be judged in terms of the number of items brought, then it was a roaring success! In terms of sales, the BVTWM funds have received just shy of £40.

Most folks were very good about retrieving any unsold items that they brought. The small pile of books and magazines left will go to NVCF.
