Burnhill stereo record player
Hi guys. I’m relatively new to this game. I currently have a nice Fidelity HF45 which now only needs the volume pot sorting. But my question is about a turntable I bought to tinker with. It’s by a company called Burnhill. I simply cannot find any information about them on the net! Do any of you well informed chaps know anything about it? The only thing I could find is that they were sold in about 76 through Argos, and seemed to be mid range price wise. I am trying to find out in case I need parts.
Thanks in advance!! |

Is this just a turntable without a tone arm, or does it have an arm along with maybe an internal amplifier and speakers? |
Re: Burnhill stereo record player
Sorry, it’s a player. No built in speakers, but takes wires speakers. https://goo.gl/images/2tzPgr

Sorry. My mistake. It’s a player. No internal speakers. The only thing I’ve found is it’s picture in the Argos catalogue. If you google search burnhill stereo. Do image search you will see it in the 1976 Argos catalogue!!!
I’m no good with getting pictures on!!! |
Re: Burnhill stereo record player
That's a record player with external speakers.

Re: Burnhill stereo record player
Thanks! Why is there so little info on this player on the net? Did I just choose a rubbish player???

Re: Burnhill stereo record player
The only chance you'll have of obtaining non-generic spares for that player is if you can find another one to cannibalise.
Generic spare like resistors, capacitors and transistors are readily available. |
Re: Burnhill stereo record player
On closer inspection I may be lucky! It’s mechanically good. But playing a bit fast (35.1 on 33). Hopefully there’s a buildup on the gearing mechanism inside and a clean up will sort it!

Re: Burnhill stereo record player
Of course, it could just be a rebadged product made by a better known manufacturer, such as Fidelity or Ferguson. Some good clear photos of your Burnhill, front, top, rear and underside, may allow us to see if it has a better known "relative".

Re: Burnhill stereo record player
The smaller record player (item 10 in the picture) has a bit of a Fidelity look to it while the other one could also be made by Fidelity - the Fidelity unit below it appears to have the same control layout.
Burnhill was almost certainly an Argos badge - and not one that lasted for very long. |
Re: Burnhill stereo record player
Thanks so much! I’m out now but I will get some pictures up in the morning. It is the larger unit in the Argos pic. Cheers!
