1930's/40’s radio ID please
 

1930,s/40’s radio id please

Picked this set up at the weekend can anyone id it please
Valve on right is marked LP2 the left one is harder to read pos HL2 ??

The white label on right hand side has written on it:

This set is designed for use with British
Valves marked BVA of the type specified
In out printed instructions issued with this receiver

So I guess it was a kit complete with case as case looks professional made.

Can anyone id it please, and a copy of the instructions would be even better.

Looks more 1920s to me, albeit modded at a lated date ;)

Tuning escutcheon and drive etc seem to be the same as this Ekco: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/ekco_ekcolectric_sgp3.html

I'm not sure, hopefully someone can ID it.
HP2 and LP2 came out 1930 and 31 according to the Valve Museum.

Looking through Wireless World in the late 20s early 30s that tuning mechanism/escutchion that Nick identified does appear to be unique to the Ekco P2 and P3 receivers.

having found a picture for the p3 its different
A different shape and where mine has a shield at the top
the Ekco looks more like a clam shell

possible an off the self part as most I have looked at on the web have had the set makers name on them I guess kit makers would have brought from a component supplier
sadly I have no early catalogues
