When you first log into the forums you'll be presented with the "Index Page". Note the banner at the top right which appears on every forum page. By clicking on this you can purchase Service Data. This is colloquially known as "Up Top There". There is also a "Private Messages" button. Clicking this enables you to send or read Private Messages or PMs. Of most interest is a list of all the forum sections. By clicking on the name of a forum such as "Vintage Radio (domestic)" you can read all the threads in that section.

YOU CANNOT POST FROM THE INDEX PAGE. YOU'LL HAVE TO GO TO A FORUM SECTION.

Before posting please read the forum rules to make sure that your post is acceptable. You'll find the rules here:-

If you wish to reply to an existing thread click on the "Post Reply" button which you will find on the left just below the last post in the thread. This will open a new window.

Type your message in the box.

When finished click the "Preview Post" Button below the text window. You will then be able to see what your message will look like in the forums. If you are satisfied click on the "Submit Reply" button. If you're not satisfied, edit your post and click "Preview Post" again.

There is also a "Quick Reply" window and button below the last post in a thread which should be self explanatory. This is fairly limited ie you cannot post images when using "Quick Reply".

If you wish to create a new thread, first select the forum section in which you wish to post. For example "Vintage Radio (domestic)". About 1/3rd the way down the page you will see a "New Thread" button. This button is repeated close to the bottom of the page. You may need to scroll down to it.

Click this and then proceed as above, remembering to enter a meaningful title for your new thread. "HELP" is not a meaningful thread title, "Ajax Model 65A, distorted output" is.

NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE A NEW MEMBER YOUR FIRST FEW POSTS WILL NOT APPEAR IMMEDIATELY. THEY WILL HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY A MEMBER OF THE MODERATING TEAM. THIS IS TO PREVENT THE POSTING OF SPAM ETC.
