Dates inside capacitors.

Working on a Gec bc4050 at the moment. For no real reason I cut open one of the caps and the date was on the inside.

Might be of interest to someone trying too date a piece of equipment.

Cheers,
John Joe.

Crikey! Never seen that before! Did it match up with the outside date?

Funny place to put a best before date. Never seen that before.
Suppose they were out of date?

I can't read that date on the photo. It looks like 'DEC 1970'.

Please let us know the actual text.

Hi,

The date on the inside is 14 JAN 1939. Just the year on the outside.

Yes Boater Sam, these are well past their sell by date!!!

Cheers,

John Joe.

Re: Dates inside capacitors.

Is it the year on the outside or actually the week number followed by the last digit of the year? In this case it could be both, so that isn't conclusive.
