Switch off audio tone on Aurora

Does any one know how to turn off the audio tone on these converters ?
Before you say "its easy just remove the lid and flick a dip switch", mine does not have dip switches inside like some do.
My aurora is a v3.1.
The tone sometimes does not go off when a signal from a dvd player is fed in.
There are 8 pins (h2) inside like shorting links used on computer mother boards and using a shorting link across these does not turn the tone off unless I`m doing it wrong.
I`ve looked on the aurora website for help and there wasn't any.
Also could not find anything on this forum about sound problems.
Any help very much appreciated .

For anyone looking for the manual for a converter, all series 1.x through 4.x, they are available on the website at: http://www.tech-retro.com/Aurora_Des...downloads.html

The test tone/default image only come on when no valid video input is detected. In a case like this you need to check your video source and cabling.

BTW the 2mm 8 pin header inside all these units is the port used for downloading the firmware/default image to the unit. DO NOT short these pins or connect anything to this header as you may cause damage to the unit.

Re: Switch off audio tone on Aurora

I emailed jeffrey borinsky and he told me about a manual available on the aurora website which i didn`t know about.
After reading this manual i was able to turn off the audio tone with no problems.
I was feeding in an audio signal from a CD player but leaving the aurora`s test pattern on and didn`t know that a video signal had to be fed in to stop the tone.
I was lucky that i didn`t damage the unit by shorting out those links.
I must say that the aurora is a god send to us 405 line tv collectors for many reasons and i would`nt be without mine.
Thank you stephen for your help.

The credit all goes to Darryl really. Without him we would be sitting on piles of useless 405 line telly`s ;D

The Aurora's contribution towards the cause can not be overestimated. Nominations for an honorary title can be submitted from the .gov website.

Thanks guys, but just getting together and seeing all your collections once I make it over there is payment enough. Not sure when that will be but it's on the bucket list.

Indeed so, and not only for 405-lines. Without the 'WC-01' edition of his Aurora, my 120-line colour mirror screw would have been well nigh impossible. Darryl has contributed greatly to the hobby.
