1 Attachment(s)
Of no interest to me but might be to others.
I spotted the attached info in The Times on Tuesday this week. A collection of of radios, TV and other electrical items to be auctioned by Charterhouse Auctioneers, Dorset. (Nothing in the picture to get too excited about). |

Re: Charterhouse March 11th & 12th online auction.
Charterhouse no longer do catalogues it seems.
I spoke to a very nice lady and she gave me the following link and permission to share it here: https://www.easyliveauction.com/charterhouse/ The auction in question will become live on the 3rd March. The lots and descriptions will become available then. Cheers Mike T |
Peter’s radios being auctioned- no reserve
This sale may interest some (I have no connection other than being a life member and supporter of RADARC Amateur Radio society).
https://www.charterhouse-auction.com...rhouse-auction I’m told there’s no reserve ... I don’t think anyone’s already posted this but if they have apologies! Best 73! |
Re: Peter’s radios being auctioned- no reserve
Very much a real auctioneer + gavel so attendance in person required. Just as well, there's one big item plus accessories I fancy :)

Re: Peter’s radios being auctioned- no reserve
It has already been posted, but the catalogue's up now. There's a Pye Achoic and an Eddystone(?) marine broadcast receiver buried in there along with a half decent 1155 and a Civilian Receiver. Also quite a few lots with added typewriters! Some of the multi set lots have other interesting bits and pieces to rummage through.

Re: Peter’s radios being auctioned- no reserve
Interesting auction - initially I thought some of the estimates were optimistic until I saw that most of the 'lots' are made up of multiple bits of equipment.
Tempting - but I'll probably resist (?????) |

Was "Peter" one of us UKVRR members?

Re: Peter’s radios being auctioned- no reserve
I wouldn't take much notice of the estimates - they're all £50 to £80.

Re: Charterhouse March 11th & 12th online auction.
Interesting but watch out for the 'buyers fee' and vat. This could add another 15% + vat on top of the hammer price depending on the item and if the auctioneers discretion comes into play or not. I didn't see anything about carriage costs leaping out from the site's auction conditions but suspect that they won't be cheap. I'm not trying to put anyone off, just making my own observation, so that potential buyers don't get caught out with a more expensive final cost than what they expected.

Auction March 11th and 12th 2021
I don't know if you have already heard about this:
https://www.charterhouse-auction.com...rhouse-auction "A vast collection of vintage radios, televisions, record players and other electronic items, all from a private museum near Dorchester, are included in the Charterhouse two day March 11th & 12th online collector’s auction." Happy bidding! Ken |

Postage £10 up to 2kg then £20 plus VAT For me most of the lots are too big there is nothing I want enough to get lumbered with a load of junk as well. |
Re: Charterhouse March 11th & 12th online auction.
Yes to be honest I thought the same, what collector wants a selection of 10 old radios? You may like one or two in the batch but then you have another eight to get rid of! It's no wonder that sets appear on ebay a few days later.
I only had a quick browse but I thought a lot of it was a bit rough and also a lot of the radios were nothing special . It's also miles too far away for me. I don't know if the travel restrictions would allow driving that far for a hobby? I suppose you could lie if you got stopped? Being not too far from the seaside it is possible checks will be made. The local paper reported the police were questioning day trippers to Hunstanton recently and I suppose the car registration number will tell them where you live? A couple of the tellies are quite nice though.... |
