Re: Reel tape retainers
Well, if you have a time machine Tandy used to sell them.... But seriously I have heard suggested using the rubber "corks" used for wine making. It is possible to get them with one hole already drilled.
The original reel retainers are all pretty old now and if anything like mine are going hard and so not so effective. Peter. |

A rubber doorstop can work.

Re: Reel tape retainers
The suggestion of a rubber bung for winemaking suggests that a bored rubber bung of an appropriate size may work. A large selection of such bungs are available from Amazon.

I have used grommets that are used for taking electrical wires through cases. Works wonderfully.

Re: Reel tape retainers
I have used "SUGRU", a new rubber type adhesive that I found on Ebay.
1. Roll a lump of SUGRU into a ball approximately 5mm dia. 2. Squash the ball to the size of a 10p piece. 3. Place it centrally across the hole in the retainer. 4. Knead the Sugru into the surface of the retainer around the hole. 5. With the point of a pencil, create a hole in the Sugru slightly smaller than the original retainer hole - knead the excess Sugru (that forming the hole has created) into the retainer to leave a contour similar to the original underside of the retainer. 6. Leave for 24 hours. Voila! |
