AVO Range Multiplier - Any Info Please?

1 Attachment(s)
Hi All

I recently acquired yet another AVO EA113 (this IS the last one, seriously).

It came with a range multiplier which I couldn't find any info about - OK, I Googled it for about 30 mins, no joy.

Does anyone have any info? I assume it is just a high value resistor but a data sheet might be nice!

Cheers
James

The multiplier in your photo states 'Electronic Testmeter', which was an Avo product itself. Often referred to as the ETM. I wonder if the multiplier was intended for use with that, other than the EA113.
Saying that, the User Manual for the Avometer Mod 15,16 & 20 (Pretty much the same as the EA113) mentions a combined 10kV & 30kV DC multiplier.

Hi James, I don't think that multiplier was intended for other than the Electronic meter.
I don't think there were any designed for the EA113, but there were a whole range of shunts and multipliers for the analogue meters.

Re: AVO Range Multiplier - Any Info Please?

The ETM operating instructions contains quite a bit about this multiplier, which contains a single resistance of 99 Megohms, hence it forms a 10:1 potential divider when connected in series with the fixed 11 Megohm internal resistance of the ETM. The multiplier thus allows the ETM to measure up to 10kV DC. It was probably intended for measurement of the EHT in monochrome 405 line TV sets.

It would certainly not suit the EA113!

Thanks All!

Nice to know what you have - not much use to me then!
