1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
I just noticed that the total number of posts to this forum is close to reaching 1,000,000!
This is a milestone worth celebrating! Many thanks to all who contribute! |

Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
I'm just imagining a suitable trophy
A bright emitter valve and socket mounted on a mahogany and ebonite pedestal with a little engraved brass plaque? But that leaves so much more missing. An EF50 an EF80 and a PL509 to symbolise all the tellies fixed over the years. A dendrite-clogged AF117. An AVO VCM as the base, no pointer in its meter but one drawn in at the zero end. No, maybe a Sussex working in all its glory. So hard. nothing deserves to be left out. And for the lunatic fringe, a strait-jacket with expensive speaker cable instead of straps? It has to symbolise that it's all for the fun of it. David |

Wow. How long would it take to read everything here? And how long to understand it?!

Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
An array of naughty, leaky UL41s undergoing ECT from a big Tesla coil?
Chinese fire-cracker strings of superannuated Rifas parallel-connected in their hundreds? |
Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
Will we or the moderators know who has the honour of making the millionth post?
|
Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
Actually, I don't think that information is available. We'll probably never know who is responsible.
|
Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
I might be able to work it out from the database, but not sure. I will have a look when we reach or pass the million point.
We will be watching for multiple or pointless posts around that time by anyone trying to be the victor. |
Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
This is post 999440. According to the information here at the time of posting:-
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/index.php Its forum post number is 1254716. Numbering may not have started from one and some posts will have been deleted or merged. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...16&postcount=9 560 more posts are needed to reach 1 million. 1254716 + 560 is 1255176, so post 1255276 will be the one millionth assuming no deletions or mergers. |
Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
Also posts in the private moderators area aren't included in the total, which complicates things a bit. It is deliberately only public posts.
At normal posting rate we will probably get there at some point tomorrow afternoon/evening. |

A Bakelite rose bowl in the shape of a TV22 would be a nice trophy to own....John.

Posts about the MK 14 must have contributed to most of the million 😄😄

Re: 1,000,000th Forum Post Coming Up!
The 'Audiophoolery' thread must also be a strong contender! Still rumbling on since Oct 2017 with no sign of a let-up. Almost 1,600 posts from 160 posters, with the top five most prolific posters (3% of all posters in the thread), accounting for 718 posts - 45% of the total. Almost as passionate about 'audiophoolery' as 'audiophools' are about their coveted toys! :)
Then there's AVO meters of course, and DAC90As which must be in with a good chance, with 'where can I get an idler wheel for a Dansette?' gaining ground. (Errr, did I mention the Sussex?). |

Valve testers generally must account for a fair number, there's the Mullard High speed as well.
