Revox A77 Spooling Motors
Just wondering if anyone has come across this style of spooling motor - it’s from a early production A77 with a date stamp of 1/68. These presumably preceded the later, more familiar Papst motors having laced stator windings and cotton wrapped over PVC motor lead outs. But the astonishing thing seems to be the quality of the bearings used; these spin so freely like a Swiss watch and quite unlike most Papst motors I’ve handled. The capstan motor is similar with a shiny polished-steel finish but this carries no markings. BTW, I’m not stripping this A77 to sell on for parts but doing a top-to-bottom rebuild!
