Ekco PT378

Hi Guys

I'm completely new to this so please bear with me.

I recently found an old Ekco radio that is of sentimental value to my wife.

Here I must admit to being completely technically illiterate regards electronic etc.

It appears to be in order though it looks a bit grubby.

I think it may even work if I can find a battery (9v I think)

Does anyone know of an individual or outfit that can have a look at it and get it going. I'd be happy to clean it and polish it myself but the electronics are a black art as far as i am concerned.

I live in S Wales but could get it posted if necessary.

Thanks Pav

The battery is a PP7 9 volt and are available online, it may be possible to make up a 9 volt battery with AAA cells. If the radio as not been damaged it may well work ok with just a new battery.

A Poundland PP3 (the size used in smoke alarms) has the right voltage, though you will have to make up a connector. Make sure you connect the battery with the correct polarity if you do this. A PP3 has lower capacity than a PP7 so won't last as long, but is much cheaper and will be fine for occasional use.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies. I have tried putting a 9v battery in but nothing I'm afraid. Given this I am down to asking for suggestions as to where or who to send it to to have a look at it and get it going.

I don't think it would be an awkward job as all the bits are there.

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks AG

Try a post in our Repair and Restoration Services Wanted section.

The great advantage of a radio like this is that it can easily be posted to a repairer.
