Re: GEC 405 line TV Factory Coventry 1960
I remember going around this factory in Conventry with the Shrewsbury branch for the RTRA on a day trip. If I remember correctly it might have been a year B4 this video was made can't even remember the model being made at that time but I don't remember pc's , all hand wired .

Great film, love the narrator, doesn't have the foggiest what he's on about but reads the script with due authority, i couldn't help but think of a certain mr harry Enfield doing one of his sketches!.

GEC 405 line TV manufacturing film, 1960
Here's an interesting film I found on You tube, GEC manufacturing of 405 line TV's in 1960.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGzu7vpowHY Hope it's interesting to others as it was to me. |
Re: GEC 405 line TV manufacturing film, 1960
Yes, very interesting, an insight into a lost world of light engineering. The production line seems very advanced for 1960. The division of labour between men and women is now glaringly obvious in a way it simply wouldn't have been back then.
