Beocenter 4600 Tape Input Socket Pinout
A quickie hopefully.
Looking to get an input rigged up to this system, and the tape-in socket is an obvious place to start. It's a standard 5-pin DIN socket, but there's no indication on the system itself of what pin is what. Anyone have a note of this anywhere? I did have a poke around on Google and didn't get anything useful. |

Pin 2 is earth. Pins 3 and 5 are input. Pins 1 and 4 are tape output.

The service manual is available from hifi engine.
According to the circuit diagram in there, the pinout is what I would expect : 1 : Left channel record output 4 : Right channel record output 2 : Ground 5 : Right channel play input 3 : Left channel play input |

Hifiengine have the service manual which shows the connections on I think page 11-5 .

Thanks folks. I did skim through the manual but must have missed it.
Dealing with acute toothache right now and don't think my brain is firing on all cylinders! Will look at getting an in/out lead made up tomorrow. Having output on the same socket makes the five pin DIN connector make a lot more sense to me now. |
Re: Beocenter 4600 Tape Input Socket Pinout
All equipment with DIN connectors should be wired in the same way, though as with any standard you soon find people who ignore it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_connector You should be aware that the signal levels are lower in the DIN standard. Some manufacturers supported this, and some just used the RCA line levels. DIN was indeed a convenient way to connect tape and cassette decks, and most manufacturers continued to support it long after it had fallen into disuse elsewhere. |
