Eddystone diecast boxes.
 

Hi,

Whilst turning out some old junk, I came across a boxful of old Eddystone
diecast boxes (JV Murcott manufacture).

These included
1 x 27134/IP/BP 111mm x 60mm
4 x 10758P/BP 145mm x 95mm
1 x 11130P/BP 125mm x 125mm

All unused. They came from Eddystone when the stores was cleared.

BUT They are all only 15mm approx thick with the lids on.

I can't imagine what these would have been used for.

Any Ideas?

A high-frequency small-signal RF pcb with SMA connectors, or with larger connectors mounted through the bottom of the box ?

I remember using those shallow Eddystone diecasts for mounting heater- and low-HT-rail feedthrough-capacitors in RF applications where the spec had been tightened and the original design didn't meet the 'conducted' component of the new spec.

Bolt a really-shallow Eddybox over the existing unfiltered holes in the chassis, fit the feedthroughs, re-test and you'd got a nice 20dB reduction in unwanted RF leakage.

For reasons-forgotten, the filterboxes were always painted a very pale blue!
