One can imagine taking such a set home at the time and being able to tune into the 'beam bending' transmissions from Alexandra Palace! Though entertainment quality would have been minimal.

"It has been said that the consternation caused amongst the flight crews by the 'howl round' effect was audible to the operators listening on their EMI television sets in Swains Lane!"

I was a little surprised that the BBC article gives the restart of TV as 1946. I was under the impression that it wasn't until 1946.

At least it doesn't explicitly perpetuate the myth of transmission being cut off in the middle of the Mickey Mouse cartoon that is not supported by the "Programme as Broadcast" for 01-09-1939.

Are there any pictures of Fay Cavendish, television's last pre-war presenter as shown on that list?

The BBC links no longer fully work. Whilst the narrative is shown, the film is no longer available.

Pity as the text makes interesting reading.
