Maker of zener diode from 1965?
Does anyone know the maker of the type of zener in the link to the pic below?
http://www.voxac100.org.uk/images/front2/thumbs2/zener_15_02.jpg It's in an amp from 1965 - value is 15v (MV15), around 1/2W rating? It's almost impossible to find info on these things. Mullard made a "SV" series zener, similarly gold-coloured, but in a different package - but not even that seems to appear in the company's databooks. Any suggestions, much appreciated. |

Does the"IR" above the type number signify International Rectifier?

Hi,
Nearest data I have is IR MZ15T10 listed in Iliffe Radio Valve Data published c.1966. Spec appears to match case style in terms of power dissipation. Rich |

Have you got an AC100? They're as rare as hen's teeth. I used to use two of them back in the 70's. If I recall correctly, that zener forms the bias feed, along with 2 others, to give -45 volts.

Zener diodes are specified by PIV and power dissipation. Any 15 V, 0.75 W (or greater) Zener diode will substitute, although modern ones are more likely to be in a glass or resin package.

Thanks! Perfect.
Aub - cheers, yes, it's the zeners in the bias feed - great amp the AC100. Nick |
