Booklet scans

4 Attachment(s)
I have four little books which would probably interest many people here. Scans of front covers attached.

I'm willing to scan these and upload them either here or in a public Dropbox folder, but does anyone know what the copyright position is? As far as I have been able to determine they have all been out of print for some time.

For reference, they are:
  • Bob Gordon, 100 years of electricity supply (Seeboard, 1981)
  • Keith Geddes and Gordon Bussey, Television the first fifty years (Philips/National museum of photography, film and television, 1986)
  • Gordon Bussey, The story of Pye Wireless (Pye Ltd., 1979)
  • Anthony Byers, Centenary of Service: A history of electricity in the home (The Electricity Council, 1981)

Re: Booklet scans

Two and Three [as listed ie Pye and Television] were offered for sale recently. The others are new to me. Copyright always attracts a lot of comment. I doubt anyone would be concerned but "other opinions will be available". Personally, especially on a one to one request, I would be inclined to just go ahead.

Re: Booklet scans

The worst thing that can happen is that someone owning or claiming to own the copyright asks for the material to be removed from wherever it's posted.

I can only remember this happening once in the history of the forums.

Re: Booklet scans

Copies of all these books are available, but only second hand and mostly at silly prices. I'll go ahead and when they are done I will invite anyone who wants a copy to contact me for web link.

I would also like to have an electronic "spacial backup" of these. Thanks for taking the time doing this.

I would like to echo that sentiment. They look well worth reading.

Thank you for undertaking to do this.

Scans of two booklets (Pye and 50 yrs of TV) can already be found on the internet.
