An old valve

I couldn't resist this box of valves at our local auction when I saw this amongst the mainly 50's pulls. It has A23 on the pinch which might be 1st batch of 1923. Needless to say the filament is o/c but a nice display piece. It's surprisingly heavy.

I now have 100+ more valves to store in the garage but fortunately there were only a few TV types.

I assume it is an Ediswan triode.

Does it have 'R' or 'AR' markings on the glass?

I bought an o/c filament type like this once. The connections from the valve to the pins were actually soldered external joints at base of pins. I resoldered the filament connections and the valve was OK again !
Worth checking on these externally connected pins on old valves.

a nice find, even if the filament is o/c.
