Mr Carlson's Lab

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
Great presentation style, and good audio which makes it engrossing,
12 volt vids, another Canadian guy worth a look, repairs all sorts of equipment, good at honing in on faults with a lot of experience, https://www.youtube.com/user/ATVVideoProductions Regards, Alan |

He knows his stuff in general. I've seen him miss a couple of tricks in the RF area but nothing misleading, but then there are plenty I miss. Worth watching, but claustrophobic people ought to be warned :-) David |
Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I quite like how he designs and builds discreet protection circuits for old equipment and manages to hide them under something

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I like how he says solder and not soder, seems rare on that continent.

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
Hi,
A great channel, - I've spent many hours on there. I also like Mikrowave1, - vintage technology, and not too technical, - a bit like me! Kind regards Dave |
Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I second that, I have watched many of his video's and subscribe to his channel.

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I'm afraid I find his vocal style too annoying to watch, a bit like EEVBlog. Very laboured delivery. SOrry :-[

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I agree about the 'urgent' vocal styles. Rather grating to listen to after a while.

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
I came across this channel a couple of weeks ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT7n6zQdk8o This link is for a walkthrough of the Mullard 3-3 circuit where they explain how the circuit works. They have other circuit videos as well, very useful for beginners to valve circuits. If you like guitar amplifiers, there's Uncle Doug who has some theory videos as well as repairs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6By31V9fDo |

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
Yes, agree on that about 12 volt vids, but he was in the electronic repair business himself for 30 years, as he will mention, so I suppose he is used to working that way, where as people on forums like here are now repairing as a hobby, not always though, so being more careful with the gear they are repairing, also noted the ‘solder’, not ‘sodder’, and again he has mentioned this himself, saying it’s solder, wonder if that’s a Canadian thing as opposed to an American thing.

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
The man definitely knows his stuff, But like others have said his voice is a tad annoying and his explanations a bit long winded, I'm more of a shango066 kinda guy. No polished presentation or fancy ''labs'' Just him a manky table and a ton of wires ;D

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
Look up "Glass slinger" on YouTube. Makes valves in his garage. His pump he can pull a 5 micron vacuum.

Re: Mr Carlson's Lab
Mr. Carlson knows his stuff, and his presentation is crystal-clear.
In many ways his content is wasted on me. I need more entertainment, so Shango066 and Buzz1151 fit the bill. Dickel Afflocket, Buzz's gnome co-host, makes me chuckle. FranLab is very good for info on obscure electromechanical goodies. |
