The cabinet was then finished with three coats of varnish, knocking back each of the first two coats with wire wool.
The kick boards and handles where sanded and painted with mat black board paint and then varnished with the rest of the cabinet. |

The rebuild commenced. First the speaker board and hardware was re-fitted.
Followed by the picture tube. Just look at the dirt on the face plate, I tried a dry cloth but nothing shifted, glass gleaner did not touch it, neat flash did the trick of shifting the worst and then finished off with glass cleaner. |

Heart in mouth I connected the mains and powered up, sound but no picture.
The ion trap was the wrong way round and soon adjusted, centring control adjusted and I think we have success. All I have to do now is make a back panel and bowler hat.. My thanks to you all for your help and wisdom, special thanks to John (heatercathodeshort) Mike (ekcopyephilips) Cheers chaps. Lee |

It Certainly is looking good, I don't think I have ever seen a tube that filthy:o
I bet the picture looks much brighter now! If it was mine, I would have resprayed the tube mask before refitting in the cabinet. I must get on with the cabinet on my T57 soon... Mark |
