Many thanks to Richard (Mole42UK) for doing such an incredible job of lathe-winding a big inductor for me.

The more than 1,000 turns of wire are perfectly laid without a single kink or bump and the whole thing is finished in several coats of immaculate varnish.

The job couldn't have been done to a higher standard.

Thank you again Richard, do let me know what your collecting interests are and if there are any parts that I might have that could be useful to you.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Many thanks to 'robinshack' for sending me a pdf of the manual for my Pye SG5U signal generator. It has saved me a lot of time and effort working it out for myself.

Re: The Thanks Thread

Nice to be of assistance for once! As I said, if anyone else needs any circuit info on ex-Pye Telecom produced test gear, just ask. I have quite a few that I copied as my own pdf library.
Generally, the test gear was of quite good quality. Certainly built to withstand a field engineer environment in the back of a transit van! Older stuff made in Finglas, Ireland, more recent in Cambridge, where I often used to visit!

My thanks to Pamphonica (Jeremy) for the Hatfield 6-decade resistance box. As Jeremy mentioned, all the switches were indeed very stiff to rotate: all of those have been replaced. All the Rs. are 'on-spec.' as far as I can measure; every R is stated as 0.1% tolerance.
Overall, a very useful piece of kit for use as a calibration standard.

Al. / Nov. 20th.

Many thanks to Regentone001 for the two tape recorders. One has already provided the head cover to replace the damaged one I bought at Golborne.
Also was great to see the Avengers on 405 lines again, must be nearly 50 years ago since the last time! Good to hear the Regentone ‘gram as well.
cheers,
Peter

Re: The Thanks Thread

Thankyou to Chris (Herald1360) for the 10S/10614 leather meter case, which is in impressive condition, and now teamed up with my rebuilt 10S^46 avominor.

The nomenclature for military avo specs. at this time was quite varied, and either a Type H or a 10S^46 is a legitimate occupier of the case! (They are the same meter anyway..)

Pictured is the correct mode of insertion- it has been known for them to be shoved in 90 degrees out of synch., which makes them jam into the case. The correct method allows the leads to be rolled up and placed alongside.

Ta Chris!

Re: The Thanks Thread

Thanks to Mike (Cobaltblue) for passing on some rather nice old meters to me, including what appears to be a genuine aftermarket AR88 signal meter ("genuine aftermarket" does seem like an oxymoron, though).

Also thanks to Phil G4SPZ and another Mike (Gridiron) for effecting the transfer to RWB of a BC348 chassis for me (an item that would surely have 99% of the general public muttering, "Get rid of that grubby old junk- fast!"- but is actually a very useful source of some very specific spares including output transformer/filter choke module, power/mode wafer switch and 350k/20k ganged gain pot for the cosmetically good but incomplete set here). The meters and chassis gained the British Heart Foundation a donation.

With Mike Barker's entertaining-as-always piloting of the auction, Mike Lewis's usual eclectic and useful stall and a chin-wag with Mike Izycky, a day positively flooded with Mikes!

Colin

Ref.: A recent thread asking for help about an HP 8640B sig. gen.

Just a quick "thank you" to the various members who helped me to clear the fog out of my mind when faced with what - at first - looked like a repair headache to clear. A repair was not necessary! :-]

My sincere thanks to everyone who helped me to unscramble a very strange and recent fault here about g-mail failure. Despite many years of experience with I.T. maintenance, that was probably the most bizarre and frustrating scenario that I can recall having to deal with. But it had a happy ending. :)

And a merry Christmas to you all! ;)

Re: The Thanks Thread

I very much appreciate the extensive assistance I received here in trying to fathom out why a Thomson TG585 v.7 4-port router would not work with my newly installed broadband fibre connection. In particular, a big 'Thank you' to Paul Sherwin who also outlined the differences in the hardware and comms. software between ADSL and VDSL.
Without recourse to this Forum I strongly suspect that I would never have discovered why and would, eventually and reluctantly, have given up and remained in perpetual ignorance. >((

Thank you, everyone.
