I see the next episode includes an item in which "Clock restoration expert Steve is called up to work on a vintage telephone".

Are they planning to do an episode in which a telephone expert restores a clock I wonder. ;D

It was OK, but not quite what I was expecting. It could do without the 'will it be ready in time?' thing, which makes it feel a bit like Bake-off.

All TV has to have lots of manufactured jeopardy these days.

I'll watch later tonight, but don't have high expectations.

Something that spoils TV for me but I suppose it pads out the material. One thing about recording programs you can skip the poor parts of the programme. Appreciate what I call poor will have someone on the edge of their seat.

Yet another of those flip from thing to thing programmes for the attention span limited. And they had a smoothing plane sitting on its base! I gave up after 15 minutes.

Thats is another of my pet hates and the constant repeating of the same information just in case you had forgotten from 5 mins previously.

It just makes me watch less TV.

Not only jumping from item to item, but fast cutting from shot to shot. You don't get time to see things properly. Several times I attempted to read what it said on that accordion, but each shot lasted less than two seconds. It's maddening!:angry:

Like others said, whizzing back and forth between subjects, as expected - I'll continue to watch it though, probably so I can moan about it!

Clock supposedly made - it wasn't. German movement; he only made the case and dial.

If I was repairing or restoring something and someone kept badgering about how long it would take he'd be chucked out of my workshop :angry:

It will be stage managed, the interruptions will be expected, probably when it's tea break time, the tea cup is off camera. Presumably tea or coffee, for difficult jobs it could be :beer:

I watched it. It passed a bit of time but i didn't learn much. It was a pleasant watch though.

Regardless of how much of then clock the blind man made, he did a better job than i would with full vision!

Personally i enjoy the furniture repair segments on Salvage Hunters - you also get some nice historical insight on that show too.

At least they seemed to be repairing things to give pleasure to the original owner, instead of the usual obsession with how much profit you can make on it when flogged. I probably won't bother too much about watching the rest. I normally like watching those kind of programs but unfortunately this one didn't really do it for me. I suppose the half hour isn't long enough to get three repairs in so they have to speed the shots up a bit.

I really don't know why TV producers always design their programs for the short attention span audience.

I can understand it being done where appropriate but surely the target audience for this sort of program will not be the sort of people that suffer from that particular affliction?

What a fantastic workspace. If I won the lottery I'd get myself a house with a barn! Forget the Ferrari. In the meantime I'll carry on tripping over all the junk in my tiny workshop.

I thought that was odd too Kevin and the use of nylon gears on a phone of that age is odd too as nylon wasn't invented till 1935, so it was probably a repro anyway.
