Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
1 Attachment(s)
Hi folks
Set appears complete but it has two stray wires (marked in red) which aren't connected. Should they be, and if so, to where? Thanks :-) |
Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
A picture of the other side of the board would help.

The RadioSpares variable capacitor is obviously not original.

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
It's difficult to tell from your picture whether both coils are still present. The tuning arrangement (moving one coil relative to the other) has obviously been removed and replaced by the variable capacitor.
It looks like there are five connections to the coils, which would fit in with the original arrangement. |

Thanks Graham - another view for you. I freely admit to being all at sea here :-)

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
Could it be that the whole tuning capacitor has done a swivel and the two wires to its connection tags have ripped off?

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
Everything seems pretty firmly locked down :-)

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
Either there's another connection to the tuning capacitor that can't be seen in the photo's, or the capacitor was never connected in circuit, or the capacitor was connected in circuit by its connection tags and has, for whatever reason, (including the possibility given previously) become disconnected.

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
Hard for me to work out what ought to be connected to where :-(

Re: Sparta Fuller Crystal Receiver- help!!!
Given that this set has been modified it's difficult for me too, to know which wires go where. Given a bit more information I might be able suggest suitable wiring though.
Are both coils still present, perhaps the smaller diameter coil is now under the larger one, and how many wires are brought out from each coil? |
