Quality HDMI to CVBS converter recommendations?

Hello,

I'm looking for a good HDMI to CVBS (composite) converter to use with an RF modulator that I already have. The goal is to be able to hook up a PC to my B&O Capri 606 TV from 1960.

So far I've tried with this rather pricey converter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111695703981

Even trying this with a modern TV with composite, it has strong ringing at any resolution, meaning that ghosts of borders/edges are clearly visible, like 4 ghost images. The box also defaults to NTSC (push button), which is very inconvenient. I like the zoom feature and the build quality, but that's it.

Does anyone have a good quality box they can recommend which does PAL with good picture quality? It must support some kind of later HDCP (1.3+). Cost preferably below £200, so professional equipment or pro-sumer with decent build quality shouldn't be too much out of reach. Would prefer one in a metal chassis for durability.

Hi
Unit depicted is a CVBS to HDMI converter - is that what you need?

It looks to me that you need a HDMI (or whatever your PC outputs eg DVI or VGA) to CVBS converter

Not sure why you paid so much money for that item? there are a variety of those type of converters usually
available in the UK for under £10 so you could try your luck with another

However 'Blackmagic' makes professional equipment..
and these do not come along very often.

On these Blackmagic units you have a 'component' input/output but you just use the green channel for composite out.

I've had good experiences with "Lindy" stuff: https://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-...nverter-p13095

Available here: https://www.lambda-tek.com/Lindy-383...hoCc6cQAvD_BwE

or https://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Compo...c=1&th=1&psc=1

I have one almost the same, it's definitely an HDMI to CVBS converter, although mine outputs via a scart socket. Mine was around £40-50 too, and that was after I shopped around.
I dont have any complaints other than the output's a little soft and I use a picture sharpener on the output.

Thank you, gentlemen.

First and foremost, since I "refreshed" my memory by reading the forum rules again: To clear out any confusion; I don't intend to endorse, nor recommend the product I bought on ebay.

Kan_turk - the listing is confusing. It is because they have a similar listing with Compsite -> HDMI as well, and seem to have misplaced some of the photos. I need HDMI -> Composite, actually only the luminance signal, so as Cheerfulcharlie also suggested, HDMI -> Component would be fine as well. I didn't think of that :)

Charlie, I was afraid to buy something that was sub-par by paying too little, but I certainly didn't get what i wanted either. I appreciate the Blackmagic suggestion, and thanks for the Lindy suggestion Nick.

Am I correct in assuming that HDCP is not required when connecting a laptop and using Youtube?
It seems that none of the professional or brand name units support HDCP at all. It is strangely absurd.

StarTech has an expensive product...

I have used (cheap) disk enclosures from that company but nothing else.

I have a couple of these little things:

https://allegro.pl/oferta/konwerter-...rny-9494936865
(listing is on my local trading site, but the same Chinese product is available all over the world)

They work brilliantly in my experience. I've used them with both LCD and CRT monitors. Some experimentation with the display resolution may be necessary to get the aspect ratio right, but I've been delighted with the results for the price. No issues with ghosting or ringing at all.
