Removing water stains from wood cabinets
I am in the process of restoring a Marconi T26A which I bought at BVWTM Museum event on the 25th of March and despite it looking a bit sad it is now looking a lot better than expected.
Among other problems it had a round water mark on the top of the cabinet. After a few unsuccessful cleaning attemps, I searched the internet for a solution and came across this video: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-r...ood-furniture/ It took longer than suggested and had to increase the temperature of the iron a bit, but it worked! I thought it may be useful to someone with a similar problem. I did a search, but could not find anything in the forum. |

wipe with Methylated Spirit, then light with a match.I have done this and seen it work, the Granada cabinet guy who used to come around used this method.

Ted was the Manchester regional polisher for GTVR in the 70s and perhaps the early 80s Swore like a trooper, and liked to impress us with that meths party trick. I never knew his surname, it was always "Ted de Pol". <edit> Looks like I was reminiscing about Ted a couple of years ago https://groups.google.com/forum/#!to...-y/GElpRf24k2k |
Re: Removing water stains from wood cabinets
sorry to sound thick but do you just let the meths burn off, or do you blow it out after a period?

Yes that rings a distant bell,Manchester.Sorry, just wipe lightly the water stain and light,it should quickly go out.
If you use too much, then no worry you wont have woodworm either! |
